Job Summary
- The Project Manager is responsible for leading the full lifecycle of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with FSM’s strategic goals. The Project Manager will build strong client relationships, and oversee project performance, financial management, and risk mitigation.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of Company equipment.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring expectations are met.
- Driving new business opportunities and providing technical support to clients.
- Managing project budgets, schedules, and risks to achieve efficient execution.

Project Leadership & Strategy:
- Oversee complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead the creation of detailed project execution plans with clear milestones, risks, and deliverables.
- Manage cross-functional sub-contractor teams, ensuring alignment and smooth execution.
- Drive operational excellence by applying industry best practices and FSM’s standards.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with client stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging FSM’s solutions.
- Provide clear communication regarding project progress, challenges, and successes.
Financial & Risk Management:
- Take ownership of project budgets, ensuring cost management and financial performance.
- Regularly track project expenditures and ensure timely invoicing and financial reconciliation.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure compliance with FSM’s safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Leverage emerging technologies to optimize project outcomes and operational efficiencies.
- Champion continuous improvement across project management methodologies and processes

- Strategic Project Oversight: Manage projects with significant financial and operational impact, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery.
- Client Relationship Management: Maintain and enhance client relationships, ensuring repeat business and customer satisfaction.
- Financial & Risk Management: Ensure projects are financially viable, managing risks and costs while maintaining high standards.

Key Relationships:
- Internal: Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Finance, Warehouse, and other teams to ensure project success.
- External: Engage with client executives, contractors, and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships and deliver projects seamlessly.
Internal / External Impacts:
- Projects need to remain financially and technically viable, and need to be completed successfully.
- Projects impact company reputation, revenue, margins and operating costs, and thus form a key element of the business.
- Impacts to/from other departments need to be considered during the management of a project. For example warehouse operations, workshop facilities and tools, supply chain and finance.
- Resources from other departments might be used to plan, execute and hand over projects. Timeous planning is required with other teams in this regard.
Education & Qualifications:
Required:
- Advanced Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Desirable:
- ECSA registration, and affiliation with professional organizations (PMI, PMSA, SACPCMP).
Relevant Experience:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience managing large, multi-disciplinary projects in engineering or manufacturing.
- Proven track record of delivering multi-million-dollar projects on time and within budget.
- Strong financial management and project risk mitigation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
Desirable:
- Business development experience and successful identification of new project opportunities.
- Familiarity with global project management best practices (e.g., Agile, Lean, Six Sigma).
