Job Summary
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring integration across multiple projects and alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to establish project requirements, milestones, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress and performance, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate resource planning and allocation, ensuring that personnel, materials, and equipment are utilized efficiently.
- Prepare and present project status reports, updates, and forecasts to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Conduct regular reviews of project timelines and budgets, making adjustments as necessary to optimize project execution.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, reports, and financial records.
- Implement project management best practices and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Foster a collaborative team environment by effectively communicating and coordinating with cross functional teams.
Problem solving:
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Define and coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Measure and report on project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Perform internal risk management to minimize project risks.
- Coordinate ad-hoc internal projects when required
Internal / External impacts:
- Projects need to remain financially and technically viable, and need to be completed successfully.
- Projects impact company reputation, revenue, margins and operating costs, and thus form a key element of the business.
- Impacts to/from other departments need to be considered during the planning of a project. For example warehouse operations, workshop facilities and tools, supply chain and finance.
- Resources from other departments might be used to plan, execute and hand over projects.
- Timeous planning is required with other teams in this regard.
Education, Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. PMP certification or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Project Planner in manufacturing or engineering, with a focus on mining or smelting projects.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects and resources simultaneously.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent) and other planning tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to present information and influence stakeholders at all levels.
