About the Role
As a Backend Engineer in our Sandton office, you will be part of a high-performing team that designs and builds cloud-native systems on Microsoft Azure. You will own backend architecture, applying domain-driven and clean architecture principles to create decoupled, testable services. With a focus on building resilient, event-driven platforms, you’ll work closely with architects, product owners, and fellow engineers to contribute to systems that are secure, observable, and built for long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Own backend design for microservices and event-sourced systems
- Build high-performance C#/.NET 8 APIs using Azure Functions or Container Apps
- Apply DDD, CQRS, and clean architecture patterns to create decoupled, testable services
- Design and provision infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM
- Containerise services with Docker and deploy to AKS or Azure Container Apps
Requirements
- 6 years of professional experience with C# and .NET (Core through .NET 8)
- Strong production experience on Microsoft Azure
- Hands-on experience with event-driven and event-sourced architectures
- Proven Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
