Job Description

Engineering Lead – Solution & Systems Engineering Role Purpose To provide senior technical leadership across complex banking systems by designing pragmatic, scalable and sustainable end-to-end solutions. This role combines architecture thinking, hands-on technical depth and delivery leadership within agile environments. Key Responsibilities Solution Engineering Design integrated, end-to-end technical solutions aligned to business requirements and enterprise architecture direction. Analyse and understand existing system landscapes to develop feasible, scalable solution approaches. Balance long-term architectural vision with pragmatic delivery constraints. Technical Leadership Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in defining solution direction. Provide technical oversight and guidance across design and implementation phases. Ensure adherence to engineering standards, governance and security principles. Agile Delivery Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts and stakeholders to clarify and refine requirements. Participate actively in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, grooming, sprint demos, retrospectives). Take ownership of technical direction within delivery cycles. Innovation & Trends Stay current with emerging technology trends and modern architectural patterns. Evaluate applicability of new technologies within the banking context. Contribute to evolving the organisation’s technical landscape. Governance & Alignment Ensure solution alignment with enterprise architecture and organisational strategy. Identify risks and make trade-off decisions confidently. Recognise when to course-correct and lead teams through change. Required Experience 10 years in software engineering and solution design. Proven experience designing complex, enterprise-scale systems. Strong background in modern application architecture (microservices, APIs, distributed systems). Experience in banking or regulated enterprise environments preferred. Solid understanding of SDLC and agile delivery models. Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and influence senior stakeholders. Technical Competencies Strong systems thinking and integration experience. Ability to operate across back-end, front-end and middleware layers. Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure preferred). API-driven architecture understanding. Secure coding and regulatory awareness (advantageous in banking).
