Overview:
- Our client is seeking to hire a SQL Database and Reporting Analyst to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our SQL database environment while driving data analysis to support informed decision-making.
- This hybrid role combines database administration with data analytics, requiring strong technical proficiency in SQL Server management, data modelling, and visualisation, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining data integrity and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities:
SQL Database Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning, indexing, and optimisation strategies.
- Manage database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Implement and maintain database security policies, access control, and compliance measures.
- Collaborate with development teams to support database design, deployment, and integration.
- Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, standards, and procedures.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Extract, transform, and analyse data from multiple sources to deliver accurate insights.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, reports, and dashboards to support business requirements.
- Conduct trend analysis and data interpretation to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities.
- Support stakeholders with ad hoc data requests, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems and processes.
- Use BI and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, SSIS, etc.) to create and present dashboards and reports.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with business units to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Present insights and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner.
- Provide technical support and training to users for accessing and interpreting reports.

Qualifications:
- Matric
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience in SQL Server administration and data analysis.
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and database optimisation.
- Experience with BI and data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, and SSIS.
- Knowledge of ETL processes, data modelling, and data governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with SSAS is advantageous.
- Previous experience in fintech, banking, or payments industry is desirable.
