Job Summary
- Proven mechanical skills with experience in repairing and maintaining agricultural equipment, notably feed mills and augers.
- Knowledge of dairy cow management, including health monitoring, feeding, and milking processes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
- The ability to weld is essential.
- A driver`s licence is required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Must be fluent in Zulu
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on farm buildings, machinery and equipment, with a focus on feed mill operations and augers, to ensure optimal functioning.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, coordinate necessary repairs, and respond promptly to equipment failures.
- Implement preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and manage parts inventory, including for the feed mill and augers.
- Assist in the day-to-day management and care of dairy cows, ensuring their health and productivity.
- Support milking operations and monitor cow health and nutrition during weekend duties.
- Collaborate with the farm management team to improve processes and increase operational efficiency.
- Uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with farm regulations and procedures.
