Job Description
The Business Analyst (BA), blended with application testing and support triage, will act as a critical bridge between stakeholders and the development team. The role ensures business needs are correctly understood, documented and translated into technical solutions, that delivery is efficient as a result, and quality assurance is embedded throughout the process. This hybrid role is essential to reducing rework, accelerating delivery, and improving support responsiveness across the companies digital ecosystem. The position is a full-time, predominantly remote role, sitting within the Technology team and reporting to the Project Management Office.
Responsibilities
Requirements Analysis and Documentation
- Engage with stakeholders, end users, and subject matter experts within the Team and across Member Firms, to understand business needs.
- Capture, analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into structured technical requirements
- Create Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specifications and epics, user stories and test cases.
- Prepare process maps and workflow diagrams.
Process Improvement
- Identify areas for process optimisation.
- Develop mechanisms for performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
Functional application testing and quality assurance
- Support preparation of acceptance criteria and test plans.
- Perform user acceptance testing.
- Review defects and work with the development team to resolve issues. Support triage
Stakeholder Management
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to align different viewpoints.
- Provide updates to PMO and project sponsors on progress and risks.
- Help ensure business value is delivered throughout the project lifecycle.
Implementation Support.
- Develop training materials.
- Support the delivery of training sessions to end users and internal teams.
Competencies
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify and articulate requirements clearly.
- High attention to detail, spotting inconsistencies, omissions and ambiguities in requirements, documentation and testing. Effective communicator, able to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders across globally distributed and remote teams.
- Ability to manage multiple streams of work and balance competing priorities.
- Comfortable with shifting priorities and evolving environments.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Adaptable in the face of frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
- Commitment to process improvement, risk awareness and cost control.
Education/Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in a business analysis role within a technology delivery environment
- Hands on experience in application testing and quality assurance
- Exposure to support triage or incident management processes
- Professional qualifications such as IIBA or ISTQB desirable
- Experience developing wireframes and working with Figma (or similar tools) desireable
Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in writing user stories, acceptance criteria and test plans for bespoke software solutions.
- Competent in defect management, root cause analysis and testing practices.
- Experienced in producing clear documentation and structured requirements.
- Familiar with web applications, databases, APIs and system integrations.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and iterative delivery models.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies and tools.
- Hands-on experience in application testing, quality assurance and incident triage.
- Skilled in planning and tracking project timelines.
- Competent in change management practices.
- Ability to accurately complete and maintain reports/records in a timely and clear manner.
- Skilled in data collection, research and analysis.
- Ability to present information and respond effectively in one-to-one or small group situations with colleagues and third parties.
Reporting and Governance
- Reports to PMO
- Embedded within sprint teams, accountable to the Project Manager
- Reviewed on a six-month cycle against KPIs and stakeholder feedback
