Job Description

Key Duties and Responsibilities Process Monitoring & Control: Oversee the metallurgical process via SCADA, adjusting plant equipment levels, settings, and throughput to maximize diamond recovery efficiency. CCTV Surveillance: Monitor live video feeds to detect equipment malfunctions, spillage, or safety hazards. Fault Detection & Troubleshooting: Identify early warning signs of equipment failure and initiate corrective actions or emergency procedures. Data Reporting: Maintain accurate, real-time logs, including production hours, downtime, tonnage, and shift handover reports. Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations, including proper lockout procedures. Team Coordination: Act as a communication hub between field operators, maintenance teams, and supervisors. Required Qualifications and Experience Experience: 25 (or more) years of experience as a control room operator in a mining environment, specifically with diamond processing (DMS and Recovery circuits). Education: Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics is generally required. Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in SCADA systems and Microsoft Office (specifically Excel). Certification: Specialized training certificates in Process Control, Metallurgical skills programs, or a Control Room Operator certificate are often required. Medical Fitness: Must be certified medically fit according to Mine Health and Safety regulations. Essential Skills and Competencies Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret data from gauges and screens to make rapid, accurate decisions. Stress Management: Ability to remain calm and productive in high-pressure or emergency situations. Attention to Detail: High level of focus for monitoring complex, automated systems. Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for reporting and coordinating with teams
