About the Role
We are currently partnering with an award-winning 5* property in the Sabi Sand, to recruit an experienced and creative Junior Sous Pastry Chef to join their culinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a pastry chef with ambition, flair, and a love for the bush to grow within a world-class hospitality brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head and Senior Sous Chefs in maintaining the lodge’s high standards and delivering exceptional pastry and dessert experiences to guests
- Prepare and cook high-quality pastries, desserts, and other sweet treats
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate junior kitchen staff
- Ensure that all food is prepared safely and hygienically
- Maintain accurate records of food costs, menu planning, and inventory
Requirements
- Relevant culinary degree or diploma from a reputable institution
- Minimum of 3 years’ pastry kitchen experience in a similar high-end lodge or hotel environment
- Strong food knowledge, creativity, and awareness of dietary requirements
- Physically fit, well-groomed, and committed to high standards
- Knowledge of labour legislation and basic first aid is an advantage
Qualifications
