Job Description

Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all HSE legislation, standards, and site requirements Implement and manage safety and risk control programmes across the operation Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and hazard identification Deliver HSE inductions, training, toolbox talks, and safety awareness Support incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions Oversee health and safety systems at the mining operation Assist operational teams with critical risk management and legal audits Stop work where unsafe conditions are identified Provide safety advice to management and conduct monthly safety meetings Prepare weekly safety reports and required HSE documentation Support safety committees and safety representative elections Carry out additional duties as required by management Minimum Requirements Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. Proven experience as a Safety Officer within a mining or heavy industrial environment (diamond processing plant experience advantageous). Strong knowledge of safety systems, risk management, and legal compliance in mining operations. Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety training. Ability to work independently in a remote, high-risk operational environment. Strong reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity, motivation, and commitment to safety excellence. Personal Attributes Highly motivated, honest, and proactive. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Confident to intervene and stop unsafe work when required. Team-oriented with the ability to influence safety behaviour at all levels.
