The Role: Staff Accountant We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the remote accounting team, working US hours. Reporting to the Controller, you’ll play a vital role in daily accounting functions, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvements. This position requires someone who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and can provide accurate, timely data to support decision-making at all levels. Key Responsibilities Minimum 2 years of accounting experience (GL, AP, AR, or similar) Record journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements Support AP and AR processes, including invoice handling and reconciliations Assist with month-end close: accruals, fixed assets, depreciation, and audit prep Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and support budgeting processes Track financial KPIs and provide ad-hoc reporting to management Monitor compliance with GAAP and internal control policies Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements About You 2 years in a staff accounting or similar role Associates or Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred) Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software High attention to detail and analytical mindset Experience with Spectrum or similar construction accounting tools (advantageous) Background in construction or utility services is a plus Excellent time management and communication skills Comfortable working US hours (split shifts: 8am-12pm & 5pm-9pm SAST) Neutral or no accent, with strong English proficiency Previous experience with US-based clients preferred
