Job Summary

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB Manage and monitor developmental projects and steer an active student life in a transformed setting and perform the support system for student societies and Local Student Representative Council on administrative aspects of their functioning. This job is therefore structures to support cross-cluster functions in the Department of Student Governance and Development. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Manage the Student Activities and Student Development Programs. Administration Support of Student Societies and Student Governance Structure at Local Campus Level. Provide Leadership in the support of student societies. Provide financial management and administration for societies. Drive Policy Initiatives and Monitoring. Internal, External Stakeholder Liaison and Community Engagement. Provide Mentorship and Coaching. Decision Making and Conflict management. E-Learning Development. CORE COMPETENCIES Understanding of youth development theories and projects. Substantial experience in working in a team and manager at the same time. Project Management Skills. Budgetary Regulations and financial management skills. Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Skills. People Management Skills. Ability to craft implementation for Departmental business plans. Knowledge of policy development skills. Advanced knowledge of MS Office. Adaptability and flexibility including but not limited to working long and unpredictable working hours. Project Management Skills. Marketing and Media industry skills including social media. Excellent networking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Departmental Marketing to promote facilities, programs, services and special events. Lead departmental marketing efforts across multiple channels. Drive and monitor departmental website and social media channels and activities. Drivers license REQUIREMENTS Minimum of M 3 qualification in Humanities qualifications (National Diploma or Degree) or a relevant field and at least 3-5 years experience in which competency was gained within a public or development sector. Experience in a higher education environment will be an added advantage. Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
