Job Summary
- Conduct daily game drives, guided walks, and immersive nature experiences in accordance
- with Selati Game Reserve SOPs
- Share in-depth knowledge of the flora, fauna, history, and ecology of the Selati region.
- Ensure guest safety and satisfaction at all times, delivering engaging and educational bush
- experiences.
- Contribute to lodge hosting duties, guest engagement, and conservation efforts.
- Design and deliver high-quality, seasonal menus
- Oversee the entire kitchen operation, including stock control, hygiene and budgeting.
- Ensure all meals cater to various dietary requirements and enhance the guest experience.
- Plan meals aligned with game drives and guest itineraries.
- Oversee general maintenance of the camp facilities and equipment, ensuring high standards
of cleanliness and functionality. - Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with food and beverage service, housekeeping, and front-of-house operations.\
- Handle administrative tasks, including guest information, stock takes, and FOH reports.
- Ensure a seamless and welcoming guest experience with a focus on service excellence.
- Supervise support lodge staff
Requirements
- Minimum Nature Site Guide NQF2
- Valid PrDP, First Aid Level 1, DEAT-registered.
- Minimum 23 years' experience in a similar Big 5 reserve.
- Rifle competency with ARH qualification and own rifle
- Well-presented, personable, and passionate about conservation and wildlife education.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Head or Sous Chef in a lodge or big 5 game
- environment.
- Culinary qualification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food costing, menu planning, and kitchen hygiene standards (HACCP or
- similar).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in a Camp Management position
