About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wine Steward to join our team at a wine estate in the Stellenbosch/Brackenfell area. As a Wine Steward, you will be responsible for overseeing the wine list, providing expert recommendations to guests on food pairing, and ensuring exceptional service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests and pour wines according to established wine tasting procedures
- Describe wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history
- Suggests and sells wine, wine tasting experiences
- Answer questions and provide general guest information
- Handle routine POS transactions, including operating cash register, processing returns, discounts, employee purchases, etc.
Requirements
- Proficient in English
- Minimum of two years experience as a Wine Steward or Bartender
- WSET Qualifications
- Supervisory knowledge in running a shift in a restaurant and/or managing and servicing a bar
- Proven track record in meeting and exceeding revenue targets, service standards, and guest satisfaction results
