Our client, one of the largest wine cellars in the Stellenbosch area, is looking for a Dry Goods Assistant to join their team.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dry Goods Assistant to join their team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate stock management, production verification, and maintaining exceptional housekeeping standards within the warehouse. The ideal candidate will have strong stores experience, a proactive approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily counts of OWS and 3rd party dry goods.
• Identify stock discrepancies and potential shortfalls, reporting them to the Warehouse Controller.
• Conduct daily and weekly glass counts of OWS stock.
• Ensure physical stock aligns accurately with SAGE records in collaboration with the Dry Goods Controller.
• Conduct physical stock counts in adherence to stock-taking procedures.
• Maintain stock storage standards, ensuring compliance with quality and safety protocols.
• Implement efficient stock rotation using the FIFO system.
• Perform daily housekeeping tasks and complete Cleaning Registers in line with company QMS.
• Report shortfalls to the Dry Goods Production team.
• Ensure accurate counting of OWS and 3rd party dry goods.
• Check picking lists 24 hours in advance to confirm stock availability for production.
• Verify production stock with the Production Stock Controller daily.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Matric/Grade 12.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of stores experience in a similar environment.
• Active participation in QMS implementation is essential.

Skills and Competencies

• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Word, and SAGE.
  • Strong knowledge of stores and stock-taking procedures.
  • Product knowledge and understanding of FIFO stock systems.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, and service orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and with accuracy.
