About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Farm Mechanic / Workshop Manager to take full responsibility for the farm workshop and mechanical maintenance operations at Rivierplaas in Stellenbosch. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the overall management of the workshop and ensuring the efficient maintenance of all farm tractors, vehicles, and implements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all mechanical work independently
- Service, maintain and repair all farm tractors, vehicles and implements
- Carry out basic repairs and preventative maintenance
- Keep the workshop/shed neat, organised and well managed
- Maintain monthly records of: Diesel usage Petrol usage Electricity usage Water usage
- Manage workshop tools, spares and consumables
- Purchase parts and supplies required for the workshop
- Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition
Requirements
- Proven experience as a farm mechanic or agricultural mechanic
- Strong knowledge of tractors, implements and farm machinery
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Valid driver’s licence (required for purchasing and transport duties)
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills
- Honest, dependable and self-disciplined
