Job Summary
A leading South African open-pit mining and aggregates company has vacancies for two Junior Diesel Mechanics to join their dynamic maintenance team in Vereeniging.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Technical matric preferred)
- Trade Certificate: Diesel Mechanic
- 2 years` post-trade experience in surface mining
- Experience working on mobile mining equipment, crushers, drill rigs, loaders, dumpers, excavators
- Knowledge of CAT engine systems, lubrication, oil sampling, and interpretation of oil analysis reports
- Ability to troubleshoot engine, transmission, pneumatic, hydraulic & electrical systems
- Valid Drivers License
- Computer literate (MS Office)
Key
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative and first-line maintenance on mining equipment
- Fault find and repair diesel engines and hydraulic systems
- Remove/install components and sub-assemblies
- Complete job cards, inspections, and reports
- Perform oil sampling, inspections & adhere to safety protocols
- Maintain and ensure safe use of tools and equipment
- Work at various remote sites, overtime, and standby as required
