About the Role
We are seeking an experienced AGRONOMIST, DEPUTY OPERATIONS MANAGER to join our team at Farm Manager SA in Western Cape. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with growers and packhouses, with a proven track record of sourcing high-quality fruits for export to India and other overseas markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing Apple and Pear
- Identify, Contract-with & supervise local farmers to source high-quality fruits
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of produce to meet company standards
- Packhouse Coordination
- Identify suitable pack houses for packing and storing the sourced fruits
- Engage with packhouse management to ensure compliance with packaging standards and timelines
- Oversee the packing process to ensure fruits are packed correctly and efficiently without any wastage.
- Shipping and Logistics
- Ensure the shipping of packed fruits to India and other overseas markets at the most competitive rates
- Work with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation
- Oversee and manage export documentation and ensure compliance with international shipping regulations.
Requirements
- Agricultural degree/ diploma or related field
- 15+ years of experience in working with growers and packhouse
- Must have relevant experience in procurement of Apple and Pear.
- Must be willing to travel
