Job Summary
This pivotal role involves managing a team of payroll professionals, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements, and partnering with HR and finance to maintain accurate payroll records and systems.
The role is based in Muizenburg, Cape Town Southern Suburbs
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the payroll team, ensuring clarity of roles and efficient execution of duties
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing including employee appointments, changes, and terminations
- Ensure the accurate and timely calculation and payment of salaries, deductions, and contributions
- Collaborate closely with HR and Finance to validate employee data and resolve discrepancies
- Review and reconcile payroll accounts, ensuring compliance with internal controls and SARS regulations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports for management and auditors
- Submit required statutory returns and payments (e.g., PAYE, UIF, Medical Aid, RA contributions)
- Continuously improve payroll systems, workflows, and internal processes for greater efficiency
- Support staff development through training and performance monitoring
- Address and resolve payroll-related issues and queries
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing large and complex payrolls
- Strong working knowledge of payroll systems (Sage 300 preferred) and Microsoft Excel
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation and accounting principles
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- Excellent organisational, numerical, and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality
