About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Fitter & Turner to join our team in the Western Cape region. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and production equipment, as well as diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs to minimize downtime.
- Manufacture, repair, and modify components using lathes, milling machines, and other workshop equipment.
- Assemble, install, and commission new machinery or production lines.
- Ensure machinery is correctly aligned, calibrated, and operating according to safety standards.
- Assist with motor and gearbox assembly.
- Conduct basic electrical and hydraulic maintenance tasks.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Conduct root-cause analysis on breakdowns and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on completed work.
- Support production teams with mechanical troubleshooting and adjustments.
Requirements
- Matric / National Senior Certificate.
- Recognized Section 13 Fitter and Turner Trade Test Certificate.
- 3–5 years post-trade experience in a similar environment.
- Basic electrical and hydraulic knowledge.
- Experience with motor and gearbox assembly.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable personal transport.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Matric / National Senior Certificate.
- Recognized Section 13 Fitter and Turner Trade Test Certificate.
