My client is looking for a motivated Process/Sales Engineer Intern to join their Western Cape office in Paarl for a 1-year structured programme designed to develop technical and practical engineering skills. The programme will provide exposure to unique engineering concepts in process design and sales, offering hands-on experience in developing solutions, preparing designs, and assisting with the deployment of processing plants. This fast-paced and stimulating environment requires a candidate who is proactive, reliable, and eager to learn, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile.
  
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or relevant qualification) 

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• • Collaborate with the design and sales teams and customers to develop workable solutions in Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), considering functionality, cost, durability, practicality, lead times, maintenance, standardisation, and ease of manufacture.
  • Conceptualize and draw P&IDs in 2D AutoCAD, specifying design data for pumps, instruments, line sizes, etc.
  • Calculate batch sizes and heating/cooling requirements (kWh) for process systems.
  • Analyse and handle raw materials according to MSDS and project requirements.
  • Create design schedules for Design, Costing, and Procurement based on the P&ID.
  • Develop electrical specifications and assist with SOP review.
  • Lead HAZOP reviews for process safety and compliance.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of processing plants when required.
  • Travel locally and internationally for customer visits.
  • Prepare accurate quotations and calculate detailed project costing.

  Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with CAD and AutoCAD.
  • Strong technical knowledge and analytical thinking.
  • Proficient in MS Office and engineering software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
