Job Description
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a steel manufacturing or heavy engineering environment
- Proven ISO 9001 experience (implementation, maintenance, and auditing)
- N6 qualification minimum OR Artisan qualification OR Quality/Engineering diploma
- Advantageous: Qualified Artisan (Boilermaker / Fitter & Turner / Toolmaker)
- Strong technical, analytical, and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the Total Quality Management System
- Implement and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System through to audit stage
- Conduct incoming inspections of all supplier goods
- Verify BOMs and ensure correct parts are issued to production
- Perform in-process inspections and maintain accurate quality records
- Conduct final inspections of all products prior to dispatch
- Inspect all imported equipment upon receipt
- Maintain records of external quality issues, statistics, and corrective/preventative actions
- Register and file inspection reports, NCRs, change proposals, concessions, deviations, and customer complaints
- Manage quality documentation, manuals, and control of quality records
- Drive corrective and preventative action processes
- Develop quality standards, acceptance criteria, control sheets, quality plans, and work instructions
- Investigate technical quality problems and manage non-conformance reporting
- Manage calibration of measuring instruments and maintain calibration records
- Support design, development, and industrialisation of new products
- Participate in design reviews, jig qualifications, and project monitoring
- Compile quality statistics, graphs, and monthly management reports
- Administer quality budgets and monitor quality costs
- Train staff and management on ISO 9001 systems and procedures
- Handle customer complaints professionally and effectively
- Act as Safety Representative and member of the Fire Team
