Job Description
- Handle a wide range of family law matters, including:
- Divorce (contested and uncontested)
- Child custody, access, and maintenance disputes
- Domestic violence and protection orders
- Matrimonial property regimes and antenuptial contracts
- Guardianship, adoption, and parental rights
- Mediation and settlement negotiations
- Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients in highly sensitive and confidential matters.
- Draft, review, and finalise legal documentation, pleadings, and court applications.
- Represent clients in family courts and other relevant forums.
- Manage and mentor junior attorneys, candidate attorneys, and support staff.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a professional and empathetic service.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes, case law, and best practices in family law.
- Contribute to business development through networking, referrals, and professional presence.
Requirements:
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- Minimum 8–10 years’ post-admission experience, with a significant focus on family law.
- Proven track record of handling high-value, complex, and sensitive family law cases.
- Strong litigation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent drafting and legal writing ability.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Leadership and mentorship experience is essential.
