Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef for a luxury private wildlife reserve situated in the prestigious Sabi Sands region. This role is ideal for a passionate and dedicated culinary professional looking to take full responsibility for leading a high-end kitchen in an exclusive bush setting.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Assume full management responsibility for the lodge kitchen, including menu planning, innovation, and administration
-
Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
-
Manage kitchen personnel, including training and development
-
Maintain stock control, sourcing quality produce from approved suppliers within budget
-
Ensure compliance with dietary requirements and individual guest preferences
-
Uphold and contribute to the lodges health and safety practices
-
Maintain adherence to company HR policies and industrial relations practices
Expected Competencies and Skillsets:
-
Ability to manage kitchen operations independently and efficiently
-
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
-
Knowledge of various dietary needs and ability to cater accordingly
-
Proficient in stock management, supplier liaison, and cost control
-
Committed to excellence in guest experience and team performance
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
-
Grade 12 (or equivalent)
-
Relevant culinary certificate or diploma
-
45 years experience in a similar Head Chef role within a luxury lodge or hotel
-
Valid drivers licence
-
Valid First Aid certificate (advantageous)
-
Strong work ethic with willingness to learn and grow within the role
