Job Summary
Well established company in the agricultural sector is seeking a talented and experienced Commodity Trader to join their dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a reputable company that values expertise, professionalism, and innovation in the commodity trading industry. Role is based in the Western-Cape.
Requirements:
- A relevant BCom degree or similar (minimum).
- A relevant post-graduate qualification would be advantageous, but not essential.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in commodity trading within a physically traded product.
- A proven track record of profitability and self-managed trading portfolios.
- Well-established relationships within the commodity trading space.
- An excellent network and extensive contacts within the industry.
- Exceptional negotiation skills to drive favorable outcomes.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple trading activities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to solve problems in a creative and strategic manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport and foster strong relationships.
- Proficiency in multiple languages would be a valuable asset.
- In-depth knowledge of the South African market and agricultural trading industry.
- Currently living in- or willing to relocate to Somerset West.
Duties:
- Develop and execute short-term trading strategies across South Africa, focusing on identifying profitable opportunities while effectively managing risk exposure.
- Conduct thorough and insightful analysis of market trends, pricing dynamics, and emerging developments to inform trading decisions and provide regular market commentary to senior management.
- Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and market developments within the agricultural trading industry, ensuring compliance and maintaining a strong network of industry contacts.
- Collaborate closely with fellow traders and risk management teams to develop and implement effective trading strategies that align with market conditions and company objectives.
- Actively monitor and assess market conditions, adjusting trading strategies as needed to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize trading portfolios to drive profitability and achieve desired financial targets.
- Leverage your expertise in the South African market to identify and capitalize on unique trading opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiencies and streamline trading processes.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on trading activities, performance, and market trends to senior management and stakeholders.
