Job Summary
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification recognised by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA (mandatory).
- Minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience in the design of building structures.
- Proven track record in structural analysis and design for residential, commercial, or institutional buildings.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Prokon, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of South African building codes, standards (SANS), and regulations.
- Experience in project management and client liaison is an advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and review detailed structural designs for building projects, including residential, commercial, and institutional structures.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports in compliance with South African National Standards (SANS) and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct structural analysis and ensure designs meet safety, durability, and sustainability requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Perform site inspections and provide technical guidance during construction phases.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Ensure compliance with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) standards and maintain professional registration requirements.
- Contribute to business development by supporting proposal preparation and client presentations.
