Job Summary
Position: Accountant
Location: Durban, KZN
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or relevant field
- A strong understanding of Tax legislation (ETI) – (3-5 years exp)
- A strong Understanding Tax year process – EMP501 (3-5 years exp)
- Strong knowledge of the payroll cycle
- Strong knowledge of benefits/bargaining councils
- Strong Financial Reporting and Reconciliation skills
- Knowledge of IFRS for SME’s
- Knowledge of Tax Legislation and compliance (Direct and Indirect)
- Advanced MS Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data and compile detailed reports

Role and Responsibilities
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Support month-end and year-end close processes for the group
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Liaise with our Financial Manager to improve financial procedures
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts – Monthly
- Assist with tax audits, tax returns, and employee tax reconciliation (EMP501)
- Direct external audits to ensure compliance
- Preparation of Monthly VAT reconciliation
- All other related tasks
