Job Summary
- Must have a relevant tertiary qualification
- Strong legal administrative experience, ideally within Private Client (experience in other areas of law will also be considered)
- High attention to detail, excellent organisation skills, and the ability to prioritise workload across multiple fee earners
- Confident with digital dictation and standard legal documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach
- Strong IT skills and willingness to learn new systems
- Understanding of compliance, including AML regulations
- A proactive and adaptable mindset with commercial awareness
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Drafting initial correspondence to register deaths.
- Coordinating property and chattels valuations, house clearances, and related services.
- Preparing schedules of assets and liabilities.
- Drafting IHT forms and legal statements.
- Preparing correspondence with HMRC, the Probate Registry, and third parties.
- Organizing the closure and sale of assets and arranging distributions.
- Assisting with deceased tax affairs and drafting Estate Accounts.
- Placing s.27 Trustee Act notices.
- Drafting simple Wills, Codicils, and LPAs.
- Preparing standard letters to testators, donors, and attorneys.
- Drafting Deputyship applications and supporting documentation.
- Preparing asset and liability schedules.
- Registering LPAs/Deputyship orders and arranging payment of liabilities.
- Acting as a first point of contact for new enquiries and managing client calls professionally.
- Opening and maintaining client files, ensuring AML compliance and accurate data entry.
- Assisting with billing and account processes.
- Proofreading correspondence and documents.
- Maintaining and updating internal databases.
- Booking meetings and supporting diary management.
- Supporting business development through enquiry logging and tracking conversion rates.
