Job Summary
Hire Resolve’s client, a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy known for delivering high-complexity public infrastructure projects across South Africa, is currently seeking a Professionally Registered Mechanical Engineer with strong project management capabilities to join their Cape Town team as a Project Leader/Pr Mechanical Engineer.
This role is ideal for a driven individual with a proven track record in the construction sector, particularly in projects involving government infrastructure or healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will oversee the implementation, management, and reporting of the WCGDoI (Western Cape Government Department of Infrastructure) programme.
Responsibilities

Manage all facets of assigned TUSK/WCGDoI programme projects, including:
-
Budgeting, scheduling, and meeting cash flow and programme timelines
-
Monitoring contractor and consultant performance and ensuring compliance
-
Coordinating and reviewing invoices, fees, and appointments
-
Overseeing site inspections and ensuring mechanical and fire installations comply with designs and regulations
-
Filing and maintaining accurate documentation on project servers
-
Ensuring full compliance with JBCC 6.2, and exposure to NEC 3 & 4 is beneficial
-
Supporting Auditor-General audit processes and programme compliance
-

Lead and support professional reporting on all project mechanical and fire services

Review, compile, and endorse contract instructions and extension of time claims
-
Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team in an open office environment

Provide additional administrative support and reporting under the guidance of a Programme Manager
Requirements
-
Professional Registration with ECSA as a Mechanical Engineer (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng)
-
Minimum 2 years post-registration experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
-
5+ years of industry experience, with construction project exposure preferred
-
Experience in government health infrastructure projects is advantageous
-
Proficient in JBCC 6.2 contract administration; NEC 3 & 4 experience is a plus
-
Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
-
Strong formal writing and reporting abilities
-
Experience with project-specific cash flow projections
-
Ability to delegate, lead, and manage multiple responsibilities under strict deadlines
- Demonstrates strong administrative, communication, and problem-solving skills

Previous PA experience is beneficial
