Job Summary
Job Purpose:
To assist the procurement department with sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services related to civil construction projects. The Junior Buyer will support the buying process, ensure timeous and cost-effective procurement while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- A diploma/qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related field (advantageous)
- 2-3 years’ experience as a Buyer or Junior Buyer in the civil construction industry (essential)
- Knowledge of civil construction materials and processes
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities
- Computer literate (MS Office and relevant procurement software)
- Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate suppliers of civil construction materials and services
- Request and compare quotations based on project specifications
- Place and follow up on purchase orders
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid project delays
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors
- Assist with supplier performance evaluations
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures
- Provide regular updates to the procurement and site teams
