Qualification
- Completed BCom Management Accounting or Financial Accounting Degree
- 13 years post-articles experience (financial services experience is preferable)
About the Role
The Assistant Financial Manager will report directly to the Head of Finance, providing oversight for various domestic and international entities linked to a family office structure. The role covers a diverse group specializing in listed holdings, private equity investment, offshore portfolios, philanthropic projects, and the financial affairs of family principals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, implementing, and reporting on financial transactions across all group entities
- Compile internal and external reports arising from financial activities
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and adherence to internal policies
- Maintain financial processes, procedures, and controls to support group-wide financial hygiene
- Manage short-term cash flow planning and oversee all banking transactions
- Drive long-term cash flow and treasury management, including liaising with major banks
- Compile and review monthly internal reports
- Review annual financial statements and coordinate audit processes
- Oversee financial control and manage outsourced accounting functions for accuracy
- Supervise outsourced group secretarial functions, including all relevant documentation
- Manage SARB exchange control reporting and liaise with authorized dealers
- Execute and manage currency trades
- Consult external advisors on tax, legal, exchange control, and accounting matters
- Maintain adequate insurance coverage for major assets
External Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with onshore and offshore accounting, company secretarial firms, audit firms, banks, brokers, and trust administration companies
