South Africa: Endurance Engineer (1 Year FTC)

REQUIREMENTS South African citizen National Diploma/ Degree in a suitable engineering field (Electrical/ Electronic or Mechatronics preferred) Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry Extensive knowledge of and be able to evaluate the total vehicle and its operation Exposure to testing and measuring vehicles, with a good understanding of the operation and functioning of an automobile Extensive knowledge of internal combustion, EV and Hybrid vehicles, including their drive trains Testing and measuring of SW datasets in all vehicles, and having an expert understanding of the operating software (uploading, downloading and update management) An excellent knowledge of diagnostic systems used to manage all SW, problems and repair instructions Understanding of technical engineering concepts and design, physics, electronics and measurement Able to speak, read and write English (German would be advantageous) Excellent computing skills and competency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Projects) Possess an unendorsed Code 08 driver’s license, with at least 5 years’ experience of driving high-speed vehicles (Hybrid, EV and LHD vehicles included) Exhibit a solution-oriented approach, with the necessary resolve and ability to operate effectively under pressure to meet set deadlines Working knowledge of vehicle electronic communication systems Ability to communicate effectively at all levels Be flexible regarding working times Be a team player, yet demonstrate the ability to operate independently and apply own initiative accordingly Exhibit a solution-oriented approach, with the necessary resolve and ability to operate effectively under pressure to meet set deadlines Willing to travel nationally and internationally RESPONSIBILITIES Plan, organise and control a group of vehicles on endurance Accurately identify, analyse and report on problems encountered during testing Prepare and analyse measured test data for test vehicles Compile detailed vehicle test reports and results Ensure special test requirements are met to ensure release milestones Liaise with local and overseas engineers on vehicle tests and development Update of the company’s systems with vehicle and fault diagnosis
