Lead from the Front in a Dynamic CNC Environment

We’re recruiting for our client, a respected manufacturer of precision-engineered components, to find an experienced and hands-on Production Supervisor ready to lead a fast-paced section of their CNC machine shop.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically-minded leader with a solid background in manufacturing, who thrives in a jobbing environment and enjoys the challenge of managing both people and machines to deliver top-tier results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 12 across 20 CNC machines (Lathes & Milling), operating on a two-shift rotation (week about: days and nights).

• Oversee daily production, ensuring schedules are met and quality standards maintained.

• Coordinate and optimise machine setups and tool changes (typically 23 per day).

• Provide clear instructions and delegate tasks effectively to maximise labour productivity.

• Drive reduction in rework, scrap, operational costs, and overtime.

• Monitor and report on production data, implementing improvements as needed.

• Enforce adherence to safety, quality, and company procedures.

• Manage team discipline, attendance, and overall performance.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Grade 12 qualification.

• 58 years experience in a similar manufacturing environment (CNC Machine Shop with Lathes / Milling Machines)

• Basic Computer Literacy – MS Office (emails, reports, copying and saving files), experience with Syspro / another ERP System
  

• Comfortable reading and setting programs to support machine setters.

• Experience with driving ISO quality standards / procedures.

• Strong Supervisory experience, communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach.

• Mechanically inclined with excellent attention to detail and able to read technical drawings
  

• Physically and mentally resilient, with the ability to work under minimal supervision.

• Shift Work Required / Occasional Overtime
