Job Description

Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Junior Sales Consultant to strengthen and expand its market presence across the interior regions of South Africa. This role is accountable for managing existing customer relationships, acquiring new business, and driving profitable growth in line with the company’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be a proactive professional with a strong background in technical or industrial sales, preferably in the steel, mining, engineering, or construction sectors. This role requires a balance of customer service excellence, market development, and strategic account management to position the company as the preferred supplier and market leader. Key Responsibilities Own and manage a portfolio of existing and new customers within the interior regions of South Africa. Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities that expand the company’s market share and product penetration. Conduct research to identify emerging customer needs, market trends, and competitor activities. Develop and implement growth strategies focused on both financial performance and customer satisfaction. Build, strengthen, and maintain strong working relationships at all levels within customer organisations. Drive growth of key products and successfully introduce new products into the market sector. Ensure regular customer engagement, opportunity management, and proactive problem-solving. Manage accounts with a long-term view to maximise sustainability and loyalty. Achieve agreed financial targets including sales turnover, margin growth, product volumes (tons), and expense management. Track and report on sales activities, pipeline development, forecasts, and performance against targets. Prepare and deliver sales reports to management, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities. Assist with tenders, quotations, and project management where required. Support the development and execution of product promotions and go-to-market strategies. Coordinate customer product training and provide after-sales support. Resolve customer issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner to ensure satisfaction and retention. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Education: Matric (Grade 12). A qualification in Sales, Business Management, or a related field. Experience: At least 5 years sales experience, including a minimum of 2 years in external/field sales. Technical sales background preferred. Experience in the steel, mining, engineering, or construction industries is strongly advantageous. Demonstrated success in customer acquisition, retention, and market share growth. Technical Competencies: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Analytical mindset with ability to translate customer needs into business opportunities. Solid organisational and time management skills. Additional Information The role requires frequent travel within the interior regions of South Africa.
