Job Description
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: Financial record keeping
- Record daily financial transactions which shall include but not limited to sales invoices, purchases, receipts, and payments;
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring completeness and accuracy;
- Process supplier invoices and match them to the delivery notes;
- Capture and reconcile daily fuel sales, deliveries, and stock movements.
Bank and cash management
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
Accounts payable and receivable
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Prepare customer statements
Inventory and costing
- Maintain accurate stock records for bulk fuel;
- Support in calculating cost of sales and gross profit margins by product.
Compliance and reporting
- Prepare VAT returns, fuel levy submissions, and other statutory requirements;
- Support external audits by providing schedules and documentation;
- Assist with monthly management accounts and year-end financial reporting;
- Ensure proper filing and retention of accounting records.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent;
- Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience, preferably in a fuel trading, logistics, or commodity business;
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost of sales;
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage);
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliations, and analysis);
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
- Good understanding of fuel trading workflows;
- Ability to reconcile complex accounts and large transaction volumes;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
