is currently representing a premier private reserve in the Greater Kruger region, who are in search of a seasoned to lead and evolve their conservation strategy across a vast and biodiverse landscape. This is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role within one of South Africa’s most respected private conservation areas overseeing critical ecological management, biodiversity monitoring, stakeholder collaboration, and applied conservation research, while contributing to long-term sustainability and ecological excellence. You will need to bring a postgraduate qualification (MSc minimum) in conservation biology, environmental science, or applied ecology, along with 8 years of experience in managing conservation programmes in a “Big 5” reserve setting. A strong grasp of South African biodiversity, ecological systems, veld/fire management, and compliance frameworks is essential. & MSc in Applied Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or related field (PhD advantageous) Minimum 8 years’ experience in senior conservation management roles within “Big 5” protected areas Proven track record in veld management, ecological restoration, and wildlife conservation operations In-depth knowledge of South African ecosystems, biodiversity, and environmental legislation Experience in ecological research, data analysis, and conservation monitoring tools Proficiency in GIS, MS Office, EarthRanger, and related software Experience using camera traps and drones for research and monitoring Excellent leadership and team management skills Financial planning and budget management experience Excellent communication in English (written and verbal); Afrikaans or Shangaan advantageous Strong administrative skills and attention to detail Physically fit and comfortable working in remote wilderness areas Valid bolt-action firearm competency certificate (non-negotiable) Shortlisted candidates will undergo a polygraph and security background check. – To be discussed on application ➡️ – Although we appreciate all applications received, we will only reply to those candidates who have the background and experience required.
