About the Role
Farm Manager SA is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our farm, ensuring the optimal management of livestock and crops. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agricultural practices, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in challenging conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for herd & flock health: Ability to diagnose and effectively treat potential issues & run dosing & drug programme
- Understanding of feedlots, shearing, reproductive programs & animal nutritional requirements
- Produce bales, silage & mix feed, and monitor usage
- Monitor herd fertility, including vet runs for fertility testing & AI of stud sheep
- Basic knowledge of fencing and machinery repairs an advantage
- Experience in fire burning & veld management
- Being mechanically & maintenance orientated
- Ability to cull vermin an advantage
- Ability to drive JD sprayers, planters, tractors & combine harvesters an advantage
- Flexible approach to work, happy to fill in where the team needs him
- Professional, energetic and diligent with a good work ethic essential
Requirements
- Matric
- Agricultural Diploma/Degree advantageous
- Min of 3 -5 years previous livestock husbandry & cropping experience
- Computer literate
- Attention to detail, reliable & honest
- Ability to adapt and work in potentially challenging conditions and situations
- Horse-riding an advantage
- Must have sober habits and be willing to work long hours & weekends when on shift/ when needed.
- Must speak Zulu & be good team worker, self-driven & motivated.
