Job Description
Job Purpose
Responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, installation, calibration, and fault-finding of electrical and instrumentation systems across industrial and plant environments, including telemetry systems.
The role supports production and operational continuity by applying high-level technical skills, ensuring compliance with statutory standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems across industrial/plant environments.
Required Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- N4-N6 Certificate in Electrical Engineering
- N-Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Advantage)
- IE Wiremans License
- Trade Test for Instrumentation/Mechanician
- ORHVS Certificate (Advantage)
- First Aid Level 1 (Advantage)
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Schneider & Siemens electrical products would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Electrical systems functional design analyses would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Electrical systems, especially Instrumentation & Telemetry
- Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Design Systems and Tools.
- Basic knowledge of Soft Starters and Drives setup and commissioning.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of electrical hazards.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and Outlook.
- Valid Drivers License.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years experience in Electrical areas within a construction environment.
- 3-5 years post experience relevant to the maintenance of electrical infrastructure, including back-up generators, interior & exterior lighting, MV switchgear and transformers, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs) and LV building installations.
- 2-3 years significant hands-on experience in instrumentation, instrumentation maintenance and telemetry systems.
- Must have troubleshooting skills on electrical infrastructure.
- Proven track record of electrical installation, diagnostics and system commissioning.
