Summary purpose/expectations: The purpose of the role as a Plater-Welder will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and repairing machinery and mechanical components according to drawings. Involve in the welding of earth moving machines and ground engaging tools to tight tolerances using Mig (Co2) welding and other workshop equipment as requires from time to time. Key Deliverables: Installation of Mechanical Components: Repair and innovate new methods to upgrade current equipment. Upgrade machinery to meet current standards and technological advancements. Assemble, install, and maintain machinery and mechanical components. Perform precision welding and gouging operations using welding machines. Inspect finished welded equipment to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Manufacture components and perform consistent maintenance on all machinery. Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and checks to ensure the appropriate functioning of machinery. Cut, fit and weld of new steel parts to repair ground engaging tools. Repair general faulty machinery and air lines. Preserve precise records of work performed, including diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation. Overhead crane, TMM`s and earth moving machines maintenance (Loader, Dumper & Excavator). Codes and Regulations Compliance: Adhere to the Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations. Ensure that work meet quality and safety standards according to C.O. P`s. Health and Safety: Ensure pre-use checklists and risk assessments are done day-to-day. Ensure a health and safe work environment. Be available to do training (Firefighting, first aid, operator). Requirements: Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position: N2 or Grade 12. Qualified Plater-Welder with a trade test certificate. At least 3 years as a Plater Welder. Sound knowledge of earthmoving and mining machinery. Knowledge of Miller and Lincoln electric Mig (Co2) welding machines. General: Applicant should be in Rustenburg or surrounding areas. SA Citizen Valid SA code 08 driver licence and own transport. Must be able to work on heights. Must be able to work overtime.
