Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Laboratory based position responsible for all tasks and activities according to and compliant with current approved policies, processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for umbilical cord blood and cord tissue banking, according to national and international Regulations and Standards.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Prepare cord blood and tissue samples for processing
Process and cryopreserve umbilical cord blood and cord tissue
Communicate with clients and healthcare professionals accordingly
Maintain and operate specialised laboratory equipment
Record and interpret results
All tasks to be carried out in compliance with the Quality Management System
Utilise computers and information systems for data management
Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks
Present on topics as part of ongoing training program
Attend weekly and monthly meetings
Maintain adequate stock levels

Qualifications and experience:

BSc Degree in the any of the following fields: Genetics, Biochemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Applied Biology, Medical biotechnology.
At least 6 months working experience in a laboratory.
Competencies would include: sound communication skills; accuracy and precision. Further, the position calls from someone with a high level of integrity.
