About the Role
Mayfly Agri is seeking a highly skilled Tax Lead and Financial Manager to join our team in Midrand. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all local tax laws, identifying tax risks, and implementing mitigation procedures. With your expertise in taxation and financial management, you will play a critical role in driving the company’s success.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all local tax laws in the areas of corporate taxes and VAT, including tax payments, tax return submissions, and adherence to global guidelines and KPIs such as Effective Tax Rate and BKA reporting.
- Identify tax risks and implement mitigation procedures, while performing all tax calculations for accounting and audit purposes.
- Liaise with tax authorities, tax advisors, and transfer pricing offices.
- Train business group representatives on VAT and import duty issues.
- Support tax audits and tax litigation, including related risk management, and manage transfer pricing activities.
- Plan taxes and prepare annual tax returns and provisional tax payments.
- Scrutinize internal control systems and processes to identify weaknesses, suggest and develop control measures, supervise implementation, and conduct walk-throughs.
- Perform ad hoc internal audits, forensic audits, and investigations through the “fraud line.”
- Assist with corporate internal audits and statutory audits.
- Perform short-term planning, forecasting, and recording/documenting Legal Entity Financials.
- Prepare local Legal Entity income statements and consolidations for tax forecasts and transfer pricing purposes.
- Prepare local Legal Entity cash flow statements for liquidity planning and impairment testing and prepare financials for exposure planning.
- Ensure compliant and timely delivery of financial data to global systems (e.g., data.one, CoFiPot, BayTC).
- Ensure data integrity and correct errors as required.
- Support external reporting to authorities.
- Comply with standard Financial Steering processes and timelines (divisional and non-divisional).
- Implement and manage operational changes of defined planning processes and tools.
- Manage local governance of intercompany transactions and intercompany contracts.
- Ensure compliance with ICS-relevant activities concerning legal entity processes.
Requirements
- Must be a CA(SA) with specialization in the field of Taxation
- Minimum 5-8 years’ relevant tax experience
- Previous experience within a multinational company would be highly advantageous
- Experience in working with tax authorities is essential
- Attention to fine detail in applying tax knowledge/analyzing facts and tax law
- Must have good presentation and communication skills
Qualifications
- CA(SA) certification
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
