About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Junior Sous Chef to join our luxury lodge in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards in food preparation, guest satisfaction, and kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest health, hygiene & HACCP standards
- Ensure correct use of cleaning chemicals & stock availability
- Oversee quality & quantity control of all food leaving the kitchen
- Lead and manage the Pastry Section
- Handle bush banqueting, picnics, drink stops & checklists
- Strong stock control, rotation & food cost awareness
- Manage special dietary requirements with a guest-first approach
Requirements
- Strong communication skills with guests & team
- Excellent organisational & problem-solving ability
- Professional under pressure
- Solid HACCP knowledge (PANstrat advantageous)
- Passion for mentoring and training staff
- Strong pastry skills with high-quality dessert experience
- Minimum 3+ years relevant experience (hot & pastry sections)
Qualifications
- Valid, unendorsed SA Drivers Licence
