About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef to join our luxury hotel on the Garden Route. As a key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, delivering exceptional dining experiences aligned with a luxury brand standard, and driving innovation through refined, seasonal, and farm-to-table cuisine. The successful candidate will lead and inspire the kitchen team, manage budgets and food costs effectively, and maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality cuisine
- Train, mentor, and motivate the kitchen team to achieve excellence
- Develop innovative, seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced, and farm-to-table ingredients
- Manage kitchen budgets, food cost controls, stock levels, supplier relationships, and waste reduction
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Maintain strong guest interaction and hosting presence within the dining experience
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years experience as a Senior Chef in a high-end 5-star lodge or hotel
- Strong knowledge of diverse cuisines and modern cooking techniques
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Qualifications
- Culinary Diploma or Degree from a reputable chefs academy (preferred)
