About the Role
Our client, a well-established organisation within the manufacturing sector, is seeking to employ a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their Finance team based in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial accounting and reporting services, tax, VAT & statutory reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cost analysis and support, and general finance support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post standard journals for monthly management accounts.
- Reconcile all general ledger accounts using MS Excel by the 10th working day of each month.
- Upload financial statements onto reporting systems as required.
- Prepare VAT returns and perform reconciliations.
- Confirm inter-company balances with other branches.
- Prepare tax packs and upload to the relevant platforms.
- Complete statutory reports, including industry questionnaires.
- Upload annual budgets and quarterly forecasts onto financial systems.
- Prepare statutory notes and supporting documentation.
- Prepare fixed cost and transport analysis for management.
- Compile petty cash files and supporting schedules for review.
- Perform ad hoc financial and administrative duties as required.
- Support the Financial Manager with reporting and compliance tasks.
Requirements
- BCom Degree or BTech in Financial Accounting / Internal Auditing (essential).
- Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting role.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment (essential).
- Strong IT and systems knowledge.
- Experience using JD Edwards (JDE) (advantageous).
- CIMA qualification (advantageous).
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
