About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Rigger Chargehand to join our busy fishing operations in Cape Town. As a key member of our Fittershop – Engineering team, you will be responsible for supervising rigging activities and ensuring safe, efficient deck operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise rigging crew
- Assist the Foreman in effectively ensuring that work conditions on the vessel are safe to carry out operations
- Effectively provide instructions and engage in collaborative efforts with the Crane Operator to facilitate the lifting and placement of the component onto the quay side
- Rig the vessels engine or pumps onto the deck
- Conduct safety checks and toolbox talks
- Provide workshop members with clear instructions regarding the essential instruments they should bring
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Rigger Chargehand
- 4-5 years rigging experience
- Trade Test Qualification
Qualifications
- A strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures, including knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards
- Ability to work in high-pressure environment
- Rigging techniques: Proficiency in various rigging techniques, including lifting, hoisting, and securing loads using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Understanding the mechanical aspects of marine components and systems
