About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Tasting Room Manager to join our small and dynamic team at our beautiful Cape Town City Centre winery. As the face of the winery, you will be responsible for driving and managing the wine tasting room with your professional skills, assisting visitors with wine sales, wine tastings, educating them on the history of our lovely wine estate’s story and wines. We are a family operation that is a tourist favourite, and we’re looking for someone who shares our passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and conduct guided tastings and tours to share the history and winemaking philosophy of the estate
- Actively sell wine and promote the wine club by building relationships with guests and encouraging sign-ups and purchases
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the wines and winemaking practices to educate visitors and answer their questions effectively
- Handle daily tasks such as opening and closing the tasting room, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, managing stock, and processing sales transactions accurately
- Assist with estate events, private tastings, and other special functions to enhance the guest experience and drive sales
Requirements
- Genuine passion for wine and excellent communication skills to convey enthusiasm to guests
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to build genuine relationships with a diverse range of guests
- Experience in a guest-facing role within the wine, hospitality, or luxury retail sectors is often required
- Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks, including sales, customer service, and administrative duties
