About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Technician to join our team at IR POPE AND SONS in Durbanville. As a Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining two-way radio units and IT hardware/routers/PTP/IT networks for various clients. You will work closely with clients and staff to provide excellent customer service and ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly. Key Responsibilities
- Installations / De-installations of two-way radios units into various vehicle types including trucks and plant machinery as per the set standard operating procedure
- Repairs of two-way radios of various makes and models to component level
- Installation/programming and setup of radios and IT hardware/routers/PTP/IT networks
- Fault finding and resolving on two-way radio and IT systems
- Perform installations/repairs with hand tools & electric machinery, drills etc.
- Climbing masts working at heights (as needed)
- Work as a team within the workshop and under pressure
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills and positive attitude with clients and staff in a professional and courteous manner
- Good IT experience, Computer and MS Office literacy
- Strong service-orientation
- Methodical: prioritise and plan daily activities
- Energy & Innovation
- Availability to work overtime when required
- Minimum of Code 8 valid Driver’s License
Qualifications
- Good IT experience (e.g., experience with two-way radios, IT hardware/routers/PTP/IT networks)
- Formal education/certification in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science)
