JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Matric
- Code 14 licence preferable
- Certificate in road transport or better
EXPERIENCE:
- Min of 5 yrs Experience in fleet control in a logistics environment
LICENCES:
Own transport beneficial. Code 14 license preferable but Code 08 license a must
COMMENTS:
To ensure that all loads are completed within agreed booking time lines. Maximize productivity of the vehicles
SUMMARY:
- To ensure vehicles do work as scheduled and follow instructions as per jobs loaded
- To be responsible for the Health and Safety of all subordinates
- To be responsible for the image of vehicles being kept to international standards
- To act in a professional manner at all times
- To communicate effectively by reporting all incidents, accidents, or any other information related to safety, health or environment
SAFETY, HEALTH, QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Have knowledge and adhere to the companies intentions as stated in the Environmental Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Quality Policy
- Report all customer complaints and compliments to the appropriate person
- Report any possible health and safety risks that could affect other staff members
- Report any incidents or near misses to the compliance department
- Fully understand and implement the emergency plan and respond accordingly when required
- Ensure that all hazardous and high-risk tasks are identified and mitigating actions are implemented to reduce such risk
- Reduce the number of missed lifts to improve customer satisfaction
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Ensure all work is completed as scheduled
- Manage vehicle crews daily
TASKS:
- Drivers should complete their route sheet
- Communicate with drivers during the day to find out what lifts will be missed
- Contact customers to make them aware of these missed lifts
- Tell customers when these missed lifts will be completed
