About the Role

We are seeking a skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team in Pretoria. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. With a strong focus on data engineering, you will work closely with development teams to optimize application performance in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures using AWS services
Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices
Architect solutions for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery
Evaluate and recommend appropriate AWS services for business requirements
Ensure infrastructure designs align with security, compliance, and governance requirements

Requirements

Strong skills in Python (especially PySpark for AWS Glue)
Strong knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and database optimization
Proficiency with AWS and infrastructure as code
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB)
5+ years of experience working on cloud-based data engineering projects

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (or similar)
