About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Applications Technologist to join our team in Johannesburg. As an integral member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for developing new flavours and final product recipes, conducting GC analysis, and collaborating with customers to resolve technical issues. With your expertise in sensory evaluation, formulation improvement, and cost management, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Involved in R&D
- Developing new flavours and final product recipes
- GC analysis to create new flavours and flavour matches with the help from the technical manager
- Improving formulations
- Liaise with customers regarding complaints on technical issues
- Cost products on sage evolution
- Create and file all new formulations
- Conduct sensory evaluation
- Ensure timely and quality brief execution
- Maintain organised and efficient laboratory equipment and environment
- Provide technical flavour support to internal and external customers as needed
- Provide ongoing creative support in the development of new flavours
- Work with sales reps to maintain relationships with our customers and participate in a team-selling approach; accompany sales reps as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues in other departments as needed in flavour creation or creative insight
- Work with team to meet yearly goals

Requirements
- Dip Food Tech/BSc Food Science or similar
- Creativity and above average sense of taste and smell
- Good project management skills
- Reporting, computer, analytical and mathematical skills
- Sensory evaluation skills
